Ranbir Kapoor’s latest venture, Animal, has created a box office frenzy, swiftly entering the Rs 300 crore club in India within a mere six days of its release. The action-packed thriller, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh fame, has now amassed a staggering Rs 563 crore globally. Following its theatrical success, the movie is gearing up for an OTT release, with Netflix securing the online streaming rights, although there has been no official confirmation.
While Animal initially clashed with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur at the box office, it is poised to face another showdown during its OTT release, this time with one of the most-anticipated films of the year. Although the official Netflix release date remains unconfirmed, it is customary for movies to transition to OTT platforms 45 to 60 days after their theatrical debut. Given Animal’s release on December 1, an OTT debut on Netflix by the end of January 2024 is speculated. However, this timeframe sets the stage for a potential clash with Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, scheduled for release on January 25, 2024.
Ranbir Kapoor, who made his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, faced a box office disappointment at that time. Notably, Saawariya clashed with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and marking the debut of Deepika Padukone. Now, 15 years later, the OTT release of Animal is slated to coincide with Deepika Padukone’s Fighter on Republic Day, January 26, 2024.

On the other hand, Fighter is an upcoming action thriller marking the initiation of an aerial action franchise. Announced on January 10, 2021, the movie has generated immense anticipation, boasting a star-studded cast including Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and others.
