Animal marks Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol's first onscreen collaboration.

Bobby Deol praises Ranbir Kapoor for having no insecurities unlike many other stars. He also talks about how being 'family oriented' connects them both.

Despite a limited screen time, Bobby Deol has been making all the noise for his performance in Animal. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer sees him playing Abrar, a mute and volatile polyamorist who doesn’t think twice before killing those posing a threat to his family. The film has proved to be a money spinner at the box office with no signs of it slowing down. And for Bobby, Animal not only gave him a ‘once in a lifetime kind of an opportunity’, but also helped him find a friend in Ranbir.

At a pre-release event of the film, the duo’s bromance caught the attention of many and videos of Ranbir sitting on Bobby’s lap and dancing to his hit numbers went viral on social media. Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Bobby lauds Ranbir for not being an ‘insecure’ star and thanks him for making him a part of the promotions.

Talking about Ranbir, the Race 3 actor says, “Ranbir’s an amazing guy. I love him. I’ve worked with a lot of actors. But he gave me a lot of respect. He’s a superstar and despite that, he dragged me with him everywhere he went to promote the film. No one does that. Everybody just wants to steal the limelight. But he’s not like that. He has no insecurities.”

Though Bobby and Ranbir’s characters are arch-nemeses in the film, he reveals that in real life, the two got along handsomely well and points out the two things that helped them connect. “He’s a gem of a guy. What’s similar between us is that we’re both very family-oriented. We both come from film families and we know what it is to be a part of the industry. That connected us,” states the actor, who has left the audience and the critics impressed with his antagonist act.

Bobby also sheds light on their much-talked about fight sequence in Animal. The duo is seen engaging in some brutal and gory hand combat on a runway, which remains a highlight of the film. Speaking about it, he says, “We rehearsed for 7-8 days in Bombay before we went to England. We had to rehearse a lot because it had to look very natural. When there’s a fight scene, there are objects around you that you can use to hit each other. Here, there was nothing apart from raw power.”

The 54-year-old continues, “It’s difficult to do action sequences in cold weather, fighting, falling but we enjoyed every minute of it. Even while shooting, everybody in the unit said that they didn’t know who to root for. I’m glad that something good came out of the tough situation.”

He further remarks that shooting for this particular portion made him a bigger fan of Ranbir and that their chemistry took the thrill quotient a notch higher. “I’m a big fan of Ranbir. He’s my favourite actor and he’s the best. I was completely mesmerised by him. We were so much in sync. We shared a chemistry that was so natural and magical. I loved every moment,” Bobby tells us.
