BTS members’ Weverse live session on December 5 turned out to be a very significant and emotional moment for BTS and their fanbase. This event marked the final live appearance from the quartet – RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook – before their scheduled military enlistment on December 11 and December 12. The anticipation was heightened, given the extended period since fans had last seen all the members together, making this particular live broadcast notably heartwarming. A noticeable aspect of the live session was the change in the members’ appearances, with three of them – RM, V, and Jungkook – sporting short hairstyles, excluding Jimin.
Jungkook, in particular, added an element of curiosity by hiding his nearly bald cut beneath a black cloth and hoodie. During the live session, he openly admitted to cutting his hair in a military style, as per the enlistment requirements for South Korean men.
Speaking about their appearances, the quartet’s discussion quickly transitioned to their senior band member, J-Hope. BTS singer V disclosed that J-Hope underwent a noticeable transformation after joining military training. In the Weverse live, Taehyung remarked, “Hobi hyung got really cool.” He further stated, “He’s always been like an angel, but then he went there and became a demon trainer assistant,” eliciting laughter from Jimin. Jungkook chimed in, adding, “In a way, Hobi hyung is the scariest person now, isn’t he?”
Further, Jimin also recounted an incident where he visited J-Hope and observed a notable change in his demeanour. Jimin shared, “I went to see him, and I was like, hyung – . Before, he would have been like ‘JJYAMANAH,’ but this time he was like, ‘Oh, you’re here?’ with a very cool tone.”
This led to infectious laughter among the BTS members. Throughout the live session, the BTS members covered various topics, addressing the temporary loss fans might feel, yet reassuring them that J-Hope and Jin will return soon.

As of December 1, Korean media outlet Sports Seoul reported that BTS member Kim Seokjin aka Jin is expected to be discharged from the military in June 2024. Following him, J-Hope is anticipated to return in October 2024.
Meanwhile, Jimin and Jungkook are reportedly going to enlist in the South Korean Army’s 5th Infantry Division boot camp. The ARMY hopes for the entire BTS group to reunite by late 2025 after all members complete their military service.
