Lalbaugcha Raja

Lalbaugcha Raja or ‘King of Lalbaug’, located in Putlabai Chawl, is the most visited Ganesh idol in Mumbai. Every year, lakhs of devotees throng the Lalbaugh market to visit the Lalbaugcha Raja.

The tradition here dates back to 1934 when the first idol was installed by the Lalbaug Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal following which it became an iconic symbol of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Mumbai.

The celebration at the Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 will mark 90 years of its commemoration.
