Man rants about paying Rs 1000 for dosas and idli at a high-end restaurant in Gurugram, internet reacts.

How much is too much when it comes to shelling out money for dosa and idli, beloved South Indian delicacies known for their economical appeal? Well, for a Zomato product manager, the line was drawn at Rs 1000 when he recently paid ‘this’ much at a restaurant in Gurugram, an experience that left a bitter taste in his mouth and prompted him to vent his frustration on social media about the same.

Ashish Singh posted a picture of his meal from a popular South Indian eatery at 32nd Avenue, where he had to pay Rs. 1000 for two dosas and one plate of idli. In his caption, he wrote, “Gurgaon is crazy, spent 1K on two Dosa and idli after waiting for 30 min. Suggest good and reasonably priced dosa places.” This post has now garnered over 130K views on the platform.

Reactions poured in swiftly. Some supported the restaurant, stating that such premium establishments come with high price tags, while others offered alternative suggestions and named a few restaurants.

“Can get you the same priced Dosa and Idli in Karnataka & Tamil Nadu as well. You paid for location not product here,” one user remarked. Another chimed in, “You pay for the location and vibe not just dosa. 32nd Avenue is most premium location for a restaurant, expect high prices.” A third user added, “I dont think you’re getting what others are saying. Who goes to 32nd milestone to eat dosa.”

Suggested alternatives included, “Juggernaut, nivedhiam, Southy cafe (janak Puri), Mysore cafe( cyclists cafe), sarvana Bhawan.” Another user recommended, “Naivedyam. Cheaper dosa and usually no waiting. 3 outlets in Ggn, all equal in quality. There is one stall in the sector 56 Huda market that serves great, sub 100 rupee dosas. Don’t remember the name, but the stall used to be red colored.”

Amidst the recommendations, some couldn’t resist making light of the high price paid for a simple dosa. “They charge extra for the UFO sightings” quipped one. Another humourously suggested, “Bhai Gurgaon to Shimla bus me aa jana, 500 rs kiraya. Idhr ek mst south Indian food place hai, 90rs ka Masala Dosa kahkr vps chle jana.”
