Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur missed out on her half-century with a bizarre dismissal in the first day of the one-off Test match against the England Women's side.

Just before the first day of the India Women’s One-Off Test against the England Women’s concluded, the spotlight was on Harmanpreet Kaur as the skipper was just a run away from scoring her fifty. But luck was not on her side as the batter was dismissed via a run-out thereby missing the milestone.

The batter was caught ball-watching as she looked to get back towards the keeper’s end but her bat had not made it back in the crease on time as she was run out thanks to the throw from Danielle Wyatt.

When the appeal was taken to the third umpire, the Indian skipper did not look too bothered but the replays showed that the bat had gotten stuck on the ground and she was behind the crease when the bails were off.

This is not the first time the Indian skipper was dismissed in such bizarre fashion as the batter faced a similar dismissal during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 against Australia.

India will nevertheless be happy with their performance at the end of the first day as they managed to close out with a score of 410 with three wickets remaining.

The home side was able to post a massive total despite not having any batter reach the century mark. The fifties from the likes of Shubha Satheesh, and Jemimah Rodrigues who are the debutants in the red-ball format along with Yastika Bhatia and Deepti Sharma helped the hosts start strong in the longest format.

For England, it was the medium-pacer, Lauren Bell who was the stand-out bowler in a high run-scoring affair having finished the first day with two wickets. England will look to bounce back in the second day while the hosts will aim to continue to score runs and post a massive first innings total on the board.
