The Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) aboard the Indian Space Research Organization’s (Isro) Aditya-L1 spacecraft captured the first-ever full-disk images of the Sun.
ISRO took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the images on December 8, 2023.
It marks a significant milestone in solar observation and research.
The images offer unprecedented insights into the Sun’s photosphere and chromosphere.
Launched on September 2 by ISRO, Aditya L1 is India’s first space-based mission to study the Sun.
The spacecraft placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system offers advantages like continuous observation of the Sun without interruptions and the observation of solar activities.
