Cyclone Michaung: All Things You Need To Know

 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a cyclonic storm, Cyclone Michaung, over the southwest Bay of Bengal on December 3, 2023.

Cyclone Michaung is expected to make landfall in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on the evening of December 4 (Monday).

An ‘orange’ alert has been issued over Tamil Nadu, as well as coastal and interior Andhra Pradesh for Sunday and Monday by the IMD.

IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for four districts in Tamil Nadu about Cyclone Michaung

 IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea because of harsh sea conditions.

The government of Puducherry has declared a holiday for all colleges in the Union Territory on December 4 due to Cyclone Michaung. It will apply to Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions.

The cyclonic storm has prompted weather forecasters to issue rainfall warnings for several regions in southern and eastern India.
