The 41 workers, who were trapped during the collapse of the under-construction Silkyara Bend-Barkot tunnel, were rescued successfully on Nov 28, 2023.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, VK Singh were present there to greet the workers.
Pushkar Singh Dhami hugged the workers and consoled them.
Pushkar Singh Dhami and VK Singh were there during the Uttarkashi rescue mission, reviewing the process.
After the worers were rescued from Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi district, they were gathered at a safe place together.
They had a telephonic conversation with PM Narendra Modi there. Modi lauded their bravery on being able to stay put inside the tunnel, without losing hope for 17 long days.
Modi also hailed the workers for their patience and strength, and said, “The success of our brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional.”
Thus, from rescue workers to ministers, everyone was invested in the rescue process in their own way.
