How to Grow Banana Plant in Pot at Home

Banana plants love full sun, heat, and humidity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to growing banana plants in a pot at your home.

Step 1

Soak the banana seeds in warm water for 24-48 hours. The seed coat will soften, and the embryo will sprout out quickly.

Step 2

Take a container or a pot and fill it with potting mix soil.

 Step 3

Sow the banana seeds 1⁄4 inch deep and then backfill with compost.

Step 4

Water the seed until the soil is moist and maintain damp conditions.

Step 5

Make sure to plant the seeds in a large container with free-draining, good-quality compost.

Step 6

The time seeds take to germinate depends on the banana variety. It can take anything between 2-3 weeks to 2-3 months.

Step 7

Fertilize the young plant with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Once mature, fertilize it regularly.

Step 8

After 2 to 3 years, the plant can be transplanted.
