For most people getting a tattoo is not a casual affair. People plan the tattoo design and its placement for weeks before actually getting it. Besides, getting a tattoo involves slight pain as inked needles are jabbed into one’s skin. The permanent and relatively painful nature of a tattoo makes it something that requires forethought. However, now an odd video that shows a man casually getting a tattoo on a deserted pavement has internet users in flux. The undated video shows a man standing on one leg and holding an umbrella as a street-side tattoo artist inks his other leg. The man getting the tattoo also uses his phone’s flashlight to aid the tattoo artist as the street is dark and empty. It appears that it is also raining.
This bizarre video was posted on Instagram by UNILAD on Thursday. It was captioned, “What tattoo do you think he’s getting?” It is unclear when, where, and in which context this video was taken.
Commenting on the clip, a person wrote, “I think it’s a quote: between all the things i lost, i miss my mind the most”. Another sarcastically remarked, “Emergency tattoo…. sounds normal to me.”
Many people also highlighted that getting a tattoo in unhygienic conditions can cause infections and tattoo artists must change their needles so that one does not contract any blood-transmitted disease. Echoing these concerns, an Instagram user wrote, “More worried about what disease he’s getting.” Another jibed, “You know that needle hasn’t been changed since it was found in a dumpster a few months ago.”
This is not the only tattoo-related post that has gone viral. Back in August 2021, soon after the COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out to the public, a young man from Italy went viral for getting a tattoo that was the barcode of his COVID-19 vaccination certificate. Andrea Colonnetta from Reggio Calabria got this special tattoo inked on the underside of his arm.
The tattoo artist Gabriele Pellerone shared images of his unusual tattoo on Instagram. The post showed that the tattoo was fully scannable and would open to the digital copy of Colonnetta’s vaccination certificate.
In the Instagram caption, the tattoo artist wrote that the tattoo was “An ironic way to remember a period of total confusion, a moment that will remain indelible forever, both for me and for him.”
