Earlier this year, Neetu Kapoor was all over the news after sharing a cryptic post about “marriage” on her Instagram stories, which many wondered whether it was a dig at Katrina Kaif, who previously dated Ranbir Kapoor. Katrina Kaif had dated Ranbir Kapoor for about seven years from 2009 to 2016. It was then reported that Ranbir’s parents were allegedly not very fond of his relationship.
In an old interview with GQ in 2015, Katrina had also admitted to not being close to Ranbir’s family. She had said, “I am not as close to Ranbir’s family as I would like. But I would like to hang out with them more. Family would be a defining factor when I make the decision to marry.”
Now, an old statement of late Rishi Kapoor about Katrina calling him “papa” is going viral on the internet. Rishi Kapoor was known for not mincing his words. In 2016, the late actor had clarified that his son Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif might be in a relationship, but Katrina wouldn’t dare to call him “papa”.
“A newspaper reported that she has started calling me, ‘Papa.’ Rubbish, she wouldn’t dare to take such liberties with me. Why am I always being dragged into his (Ranbir’s) private life? I’m not the sort to duck questions. As far as I’m concerned, Katrina has been very well behaved. I worked with her in Namastey London,” Rishi Kapoor was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot with Alia Bhatt in April 2022, while Katrina is happily married to Vicky Kaushal.
Meanwhile, Neetu Singh, in April, had shared a post on her Instagram stories that many deemed “problematic.” The post read, “Just because he dated you for 7 years, it doesn’t mean he will marry you. My uncle studied medicine for 6 years, now he is a DJ.” Her thoughts about marriage didn’t go down well with netizens as they slammed the Jugg Jugg Jeeyo actress over a supposed indirect diss at Katrina Kaif.
