Deepika added to the intrigue by revealing that she wasn’t initially keen on a committed relationship with Ranveer, and they were cool with seeing other people, igniting curiosity about whether they were caught in a “situationship.”
For those unfamiliar with the term, a situationship refers to a state between a committed relationship and something more than friendship. This concept has garnered attention in recent times and is often likened to an “open relationship.”
So, when Deepika shared that she wasn’t initially ready for commitment and just wanted to have fun and recover from her past relationships when she met Ranveer, some Bollywood fans started referring to it as a situationship. Unfortunately, this term is not celebrated but rather criticised for being seen as unfaithful and involving the ‘use’ of multiple people.

In her own words, the ‘Padmaavat’ actress explained, “I didn’t commit until he (Ranveer) proposed to me,” revealing that they were allowed to see other people but always found their way back to each other because no one excited her more than Ranveer did. However, not all were supportive, and some started trolling Deepika for her perspective on relationships.

However, there were also those who defended Deepika and Ranveer, emphasising the importance of not being judgmental. “It is very wrong to judge by watching the 43sec video, watch the entire show, you will know the depth of their love and care. Ok to Don’t like them for their acting but don’t poke your nose into anyone’s personal relationship,” urged one user.
