Another post from The Boys also reveals that timeline-wise, it takes place about a month after the events of Gen V. Gen V is a TV Series that covers the bridge between the third and fourth seasons.
However, the creators emphasise that while watching Gen V before The Boys Season 4 is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. The events of Season 4 will lead into Gen V Season 2.
