As told by Leigh to Devon Live, the two contenders were embroiled in a heated argument over the last golden-brown delight at the local bakery.

A bizarre incident took place in England’s Bideford town where a seemingly innocuous dispute over the last pasty at a local bakery escalated into a scooter showdown. Around noon on a fateful day, an elderly gentleman took matters into his own hands, or rather, the wheels of his mobility scooter, after an alleged pasty showdown. Eyewitness Oak Leigh captured the entire incident on video, providing the world with a front-row seat to the pasty melee.

As told by Leigh to Devon Live, the two contenders were embroiled in a heated argument over the last golden-brown delight at the local bakery. Tensions escalated faster than a hot pasty in the oven, and the mobility scooter-riding pensioner decided to put the pedal to the metal, quite literally.

“He was taking it out on a few people," Leigh explained, “and then bumped into him."

In the now-viral video, the scooter-wielding senior is seen brandishing his walking stick while steering the scooter with one hand.

As if on cue, a bystander offered assistance, shouting, “I said do you want help?" The exact response from the elderly man is muffled, but the subsequent scene is crystal clear: the scooter careens into another man, sending him tumbling over a sign.

Devon and Cornwall Police were quick to respond to the pasty-fueled fracas. After identifying the scooter-jousting pensioner, they seized the mobility scooter for further investigation. In a surprising twist, a police officer was then caught red-handed—or rather, red-wheeled—riding the confiscated mobility scooter back to the station.

In a Facebook post, Bideford Police addressed the incident: “Residents of Bideford may have seen this slightly unusual sight today! And while we are an equal opportunity employer, no, we currently don’t have any plans to launch mobility scooter patrols."

The post further elaborated on the police’s role, explaining that they responded to an incident earlier in the day connected to a viral video on social media. This resulted in the confiscation of a mobility scooter, which a police officer amusingly had to ride back to the station. Although they had identified the owner, all other individuals involved had already departed by the time the police arrived. As of now, no victims have come forward to report any grievances.
