The Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India has landed in South Africa to lock horns with the hosts in a three-match T20I series, starting December 10. A team full of youngsters arrived in the Rainbow Nation on Thursday morning and were greeted by rain followed by a warm welcome in the hotel as they arrived in Durban.

The men in blue were caught off guard by the rain as they landed in the Rainbow Nation. A few players were seen using their trolleys as cover while running towards the bus. However, their mood shifted quickly as soon as they entered the team hotel. The BCCI posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) in which players were seen being greeted warmly by hotel staff.

The South Africa tour comprises 3 T20Is, as many ODIs and then a couple of Test matches, starting on Boxing Day – December 26. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have opted out of the white-ball series and thus, two different skippers have been assigned to lead the teams in different formats. While Suryakumar will captain the side in the T20Is, KL Rahul will step into the skipper’s shoes for the ODI. Rohit, along with Kohli and Bumrah, will return for the two Tests.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday announced their squads against India for the multi-format series at home, beginning from Sunday.

Fast bowler Nandre Burger and batters David Bedingham and Tristan Stubbs received their maiden call-ups to South Africa’s Test squad for the India series; wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne has been recalled.
