After enduring a 2-1 defeat in the ODI series, England will now shift their focus to the T20I leg of the West Indies tour. The opening T20 International of the five-match series will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on December 13. West Indies have announced a strong 15-member squad for the first three T20Is. The team seems to be a perfect mix of talent and experience.
Veteran all-rounder Andre Russel is set to make a return to T20Is after a prolonged period of over two years. The Caribbean power hitter, who has nearly 8000 runs and more than 400 wickets across 20-over competitions, last featured in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Matthew Forde, who had an impressive performance in the ODI series, has also made the cut to the T20I squad. Spinner Gudakesh Motie who missed out on the India tour in August, is set to play against England as well.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler will continue to lead the English side. The reigning T20 World Cup champions will look to make a strong statement in the bilateral series before they return to West Indies for the title defence in June next year.
