Tom Curran was seemingly frightened by the flame display near the boundary while fielding.

Sydney Sixers’ Tom Curran got a scare while fielding during a Big Bash League match against Hobart Hurricanes on Monday.

Curran appeared to be terrified by a flame display while being positioned at the long-off region during the Hurricanes’ innings.

The incident took place when Hurricanes batter Corey Anderson hit a boundary in the 13th over of the game at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.

While fetching the ball, the English allrounder was left shocked as the flames came out from the boundary.

While Curran may have been frightened, his reaction left the commentators in splits.

“Have a look at Tom Curran, boys watch this. He got the eyebrows singed picking up the ball out of the boundary. It’s a bit close for comfort, that. Have a look at this, watch him jump,” former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting, who was present in the commentary box, said.

Curran though had a good outing with the ball as the 28-year-old picked up three wickets giving away 19 runs in his four overs.

Ben Dwarshuis and Jack Edwards supported Curran, quite ably, by claiming two wickets each. Batting first, the Hurricanes managed to post 135 in 20 overs.

Curran shone once again with the bat having scored the winning runs for his side by slamming a boundary on the second delivery of the final over.

He remained unbeaten on five off three balls. Sydney Sixers scored the winning runs with four balls to spare.

Sydney Sixers’ Daniel Hughes played a fine knock of unbeaten 60 off 50 balls to earn second win for his side in the Big Bash League.

Hughes’ match-winning knock comprised four fours and a six.

Skipper Moises Henriques also contributed with a handy knock of 20 off 24 deliveries.

The six-wicket win helped the Sydney Sixers keep their unbeaten run intact at the BBL.

The Sixers currently find themselves at the top of the points table with two wins from as many games. They will next face Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Cricket Ground on December 22.
