Windows PCs are going kaput while starting up and most of the blame has been put on an antivirus. We have heard often that antivirus messes up with the performance levels of PCs but a full shutdown is an unheard of phenomenon, which many people have complained about this week.

And it seems the problem is linked to one software called Avira security. Reports across forums say people noticed that after updating Avira, their PC started to freeze on startup. Most people tend to avoid using antivirus software on PCs these days, but if you have managed to get it on your Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, chances are your system will also be hit with the freeze issues.

The issue became even more apparent when they noticed that the only way to stop this issue from affecting their PC is to uninstall the particular antivirus software. The interesting thing with the issue is that many people noticed their PCs processor and memory was 100 percent utilised even when the system was frozen.

People have noticed that after their PC starts up, within 10 to 15 seconds, the machine becomes unusable, and they can’t even do simple tasks like right-clicking to refresh the desktop or rename files etc. Most of the affected users have shared their frustration and talked about never using the app on their system.

The company behind the antivirus software has said it is aware of these PC freezing complaints after the latest update, but sadly, it hasn’t said if a fix will be provided anytime soon. However, we’re hoping the company does offer a fix and probably rolling back the update and downgrading the antivirus software on PCs could be the best way out.
